Hundreds evacuated, 106 localities affected by floods

The abundant rainfalls in the past days have led to floods in hundreds of localities throughout the country. In the past 24 hours, 171 people have been preventively evacuated, with two people rescued from flashfloods by military firemen.

The Emergency Situations Inspectorate (ISU) informs that flashfloods and floods have hit 106 localities in 24 counties (Alba, Arges, Bacau, Bihor, Botosani, Brasov, Caras Severin, Calarasi, Dambovita, Dolj, Giurgiu, Galati, Harghita, Hunedoara, Ilfov, Ialomita, Mehedinti, Olt, Prahova, Salaj, Teleorman, Timis, Vaslui and Vrancea) and Bucharest.

The rescuers needed pumps to get the water out from 253 households, 37 basements and 440 yards, ziare.com reports.

The firefighters were conducting Tuesday morning operations against floods in the counties of Giurgiu, Galati, Ilfov and Vrancea. In Prahova County searches were ongoing for the fourth child missing since the flashflood last Friday.

In Corod, Galati County, 165 persons have been preventively evacuated, given the water level of Corozel River. The ISU teams and local authorities work together to build a dam of sandbags.

Traffic is blocked on 3 national roads (DN 73D/AG, DN 6/TR and DN 2/VN), 2 county roads (DJ 704A/AB and DJ 503/TR) and a communal road (DC 94/BZ).
