Hunedoara County Council President and VP detained for corruption

Hunedoara County Council President Mircea Molot and Vice-President Tiberiu Balint have been detained on Wednesday evening by the National Anticorruption Direction (DNA) Alba, after having been heard in Molot’s file in which he is suspected of corruption. Previous searches have been made and investigators seized more documents.

According to judiciary sources quoted by Mediafax, Molot was detained by DNA Alba prosecutors after he was heard for approximately six hours. Molot and Balint are to be arrested by Alba County Police. Mircea Molot is charged of influence peddling in a file in which the prosecution in rem was started on December 3rd.

Mircea Molot’s son-in-law Venter Roberto Patrik and businessman Pup Emanoil Milica went also to DNA for hearings. The prosecutors have found a “secret” level classified document during the searches conducted in Molot’s office at Hunedoara County Council.

Based on the aforementioned evidence and other documents in the file, Alba anti-corruption prosecutors have decided on prosecuting Mircea Molot for influence peddling, bribery, money laundering instigation, conflict of interests, the unrighteous holding of a document containing secret state information and for using his influence as a party leader in order to obtain money, goods or other undue benefits for himself or for some other persons.

Hunedoara County Council Vice-President Tiberiu Ioan Balint is suspected of bribery, private signature forgery and instigation to money laundering and Victor Arion, CEO of SC Apa Prod SA Deva is suspected of abuse of office at the material time.
