The General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (IGSU) has put out to tender in SICAP a contract worth 342 million lei for the acquisition of up to 40 intervention trucks equipped with intervention robots to carry out specific missions in areas affected by a potential industrial disaster, including industrial accidents, where human crews cannot reach.
IGSU justifies this acquisition – 8.5 million lei/truck by the fact that Romania has entered a geo-climatic context that can lead, in an extreme situation, to a disaster in large industrial concentrations. In such a scenario, which would also lead to a contamination or risk of major explosion that would make the presence of human rescuers impossible, only robots could carry out rescue missions. The truck will be coordinated remotely through a command console and will coordinate with other trucks with water or firefighting foam and will have to operate on any type of terrain, in all seasons. It will also be equipped with all types of IT equipment, sensors, special batteries, software, lighting equipment.
The contract is divided into four sub-contracts and deliveries under each sub-contract are made within a maximum of 12 months, at the location designated by the beneficiary.
