The anti-corruption prosecutors have already made 11 arrests in the corruption case in Botoșani, which targets chiefs from the hospital, but also from the County Council. Among those detained is the former manager of the hospital, dismissed in the summer after Alexandra, a young pregnant woman, died there due to the disinterest of the medical staff.
The investigation concerns arranged employment contests, and the bribe would have reached up to 15,000 euros for a single position.
DNA prosecutors yesterday carried out 92 searches throughout Botoșani county.
In addition to the largest hospital in the county, they also arrived at the home and offices of the head of the County Council, as well as PSD Botoșani. Doina Fedorovici says she doesn’t know anything about the employment mechanism for good money that the DNA prosecutors are talking about.
“A home search was carried out, as you also saw, we made available all the documents requested by the competent bodies. The County Council is not part of this case, we understand that it is a hospital unit. No official records or documents were picked up. They were also at my house and also no documents were taken”, said former PSD senator Doina Federovici.
According to Digi24 sources, money would have been requested for any employment, from stretcher bearers to the manager of the medical unit. The bribe was commensurate with the position they wanted to fill. In fact, it has increased from year to year, say sources from the investigation.
From 2,000 to 5,000 euros it came to “cost” a job as a worker, carer or stretcher-bearer and from 8,000 euros in 2020 to 15,000 euros this year, the salary for a medical assistant position increased. Moreover, he would have made sure to disguise everything as legal in the documents. The approved candidate received the topics and solutions to the written test and had to get a grade of 7.
Then, the civil servants assured him, in exchange for a bribe, that he would be declared admitted to the interview and practice tests, regardless of any other admitted candidates.
