ANI head Horia Georgescu brought to DNA by warrant for hearings

The head of the National Integrity Agency (ANI), Horia Georgescu, was brought by warrant Monday morning to the National Anticorruption Directorate (DNA) to be heard by prosecutors in connection with the National Property Retrocession Agency (ANRP), judicial sources said, Hotnews.ro informs.

While entering, the ANI head did not make any statements. According to the sources, he was summoned by DNA is relation to an ANRP referral regarding the Bica I file.

Horia Georgescu was a member the Central Compensation Committee until 2010.

Horia Georgescu is suspected of abuse of office. According to the same sources, DNA prosecutors are conducting researches for abuse of office with serious consequences in relation to those who were members of the Central Compensation Committee.

The action comes as in January 2015 the ANRP notified DNA on the fact that in October 2013 the Court of Accounts ruled that the National Authority for Property Restitution (ANRP) should revaluate the files in which damages were awarded during 2009-2011. The Court of Accounts carried out a control at ANRP aiming at the foundation and the use of funds for payment of compensations. Investigators note that in this way they found that the evaluation reports of buildings for which compensations under Law no. 247/2005 have been granted allegedly did not comply with the requirements of International Valuation Standards on the buildings market value.

 

Horia Georgescu’s wealth

 

Horia Georgescu has a house of 356 square meters in Brasov and two apartments in Brasov and Bucharest, according to his wealth statement, which also mentions a debt of EUR 250,000 by his godparents.

According to his latest wealth statement in June 2014, the head of the National Integrity Agency (ANI) owns an agricultural land area of 2.5 hectares in Lehliu, Calarasi County obtained by donation in 2007.

He also owns an apartment of 140 square meters in Brasov, bought in 2007, and a house he bought in 2007 in Bra?ov with an area of 356 square meters.

The wealth statement mentions also an apartment with an area of 69.93 square meters in District 1 Bucharest, bought in 2011, on the name of Alina Calborean. Horia Georgescu has a Volkswagen car, bought in 2008.
