Deputy Dean of Law faculty in Iasi, under remand

Deputy Dean of the Law faculty in Iasi has been detained by DNA prosecutors for allegedly requesting nearly RON 20,000 (approx. EUR 4,500) to record a man on the list of students in the third year of study. The man did not pass any exam before.

Lawyer Dan Druga, who is also Dean of the Faculty of Law with the ‘Petre Andrei’ University, claimed the sum of RON 19,800 from a student to enter directly into the third year of study, the amount was handed on June 6, 2016, digi24.ro reports.

The man who had brokered the bribe, Dan Melinte, was also detained.

“Defendant Drugă Dan – Florin received as bribe, from the student, the amount of RON 19,000, for the ‘support’ granted by the defendant, subsequently he handed to defendant Dan Melinte the amount of RON 3,500. The prosecutors proceeded to finding the flagrant crime,” a DNA release reads.

The two will be presented before judges of the Court of Appeal Iaşi with the proposal of preventive arrest for 30 days.
