Organized crime prosecutors are probing into the rifling of Baile Herculane spa complex, with investigators talking about a EUR 30 million prejudice.
The Directorate for Investigating Organised Crime and Terrorism (DIICOT) Caras-Severin are conducting 16 searches on Wednesday in a file targeting 22 suspects, among whom there is also former Social Democrat deputy Iosif Armas, president of the managing board of SC. Hercules SA Baile Herculane.
DIICOT prosecutors suspect several charges, among which setting up an organized criminal group, embezzlement, but also abuse of office with the public servant obtaining undue benefits. They say that Iosif Armas, as owner and shareholder at Hercules Baile Herculane together with Filip Raiescu, general manager at Hercules SA and Gavril Adamescu, economic director and other two persons set up an organized criminal group aiming at taking the company’s assets out of its patrimony and at assuming the money obtained from the capitalization of these assets.
According to the investigators, tens of buildings and plots of lands have been fraudulently embezzled this way: a forest with Ice Factory in Domogled, a forest with the restaurant “Grota Haiducilor” restaurant in Cerna, an office building, Apollo and Hebe thermal bath buildings, a hospital for military and officers, several pavilions of the medical sanatorium together with seven hotels, a casino and other bath venues.
The total prejudice mounts to about RON 123 million (around EUR 30 million).
