DIICOT raids a Gazprom subsidiary in Romania for suspicion of espionage

On Monday morning, under the coordination of a prosecutor of the Directorate for the Investigation of Organized Crime and Terrorism, several raids took place at a series of addresses belonging to SC NIS Petrol, in Bucharest and Timișoara, but also at the homes of some company employees, for suspicion of espionage, voceatimisului.ro reports.

According to the quoted source, from the first information it appears that, at noon, searches were carried out at 5 private addresses in Timișoara and 3 others in Bucharest.

Sources within DIICOT have confirmed for the quoted source that, based on information and special procedures, reasonable suspicions have emerged according to which a series of sensitive documents, regarding the quality of the soil and classified as service secrets, have been transmitted through third parties , to a foreign secret service outside Romania.

SC NIS Petrol SRL Romania is a subdivision of the Russian oil giant Gazprom.
