DIICOT wants a third Black Cube employee arrested in Kovesi spying case

The Bucharest Tribunal is expected to decide whether a third employee of the Black Cube Israeli company will be placed into custody. The Romanian organized crime prosecutors filed for this request. The Israeli citizen, the third accused in this case of spying the DNA chief Laura Codruta Kovesi, managed to leave Romania before his two colleagues had got arrested. DIICOT prosecutors claim that the third Israeli had an important role in the investigations that Black Cube have conducted in Romania.

The investigation in this case started in April this year. DIICOT has asked for the help of the foreign authorities in Israel and UK. The name of Black Cube is strongly related to Israel’s intelligence service, as a former Mossad head was among Black Cube’s honorary president.

The two Israeli citizens accused of spying the DNA chief Laura Codruta Kovesi have been released from jail about 17 days ago. The judges rejected a new application for custody extension and the two employees of the Black Cube company have been placed under house arrest.

It is not clear where to the two will be placed under house arrest, as they stayed in a hotel before being arrested and then remanded in custody in April, and have no permanent address in Romania.

The investigation into the Israeli spies file arrested in Bucharest could end soon, said on June 29 the DIICOT chief prosecutor Daniel Horodniceanu. He said he expects the Israeli authorities and the United Kingdom to communicate including who the mysterious character who ordered the DNA chief being compromised.

Ron Weiner and David Geclowicz, two Israelis arrested in Bucharest, allegedly tried to gather information to compromise the DNA chief, Laura Kovesi. More details available here.
