The anti-corruption prosecutors ordered the extension of the criminal investigation against the former first deputy of the SRI Florian Coldea, the general of the SRI Dumitru Dumbravă, the lawyer Doru Trăilă and the businessman Dan Tocaci. The four are now being investigated for influence peddling and forming an organized criminal group.
According to the anti-corruption prosecutors’ indictment report, it appears that during 2023, “three of the defendants (the two businessmen and the lawyer from the Bucharest Bar) claimed from a local elected official (the witness in question) the sum of 600 thousand euros plus VAT, in return for which it would be believed that they have influence over some magistrates in some courts and that they could induce them to pronounce favorable judgments for the witness in a criminal case in which he was being tried”.
“In the context mentioned above, the witness, through a relative, remitted to the three defendants a partial payment from the claimed benefit, namely the amount of approximately 234 thousand euros”, the prosecutors also state.
At the end of May, the former head of the SRI, Florian Coldea, was placed under judicial control by the DNA, together with the retired intelligence general Dumitru Dumbravă and the lawyer Doru Trăilă.
