Former Interior Minister Cristian David is subject to legal restrictions pending trial in the file in which he is charged with bribery, the Supreme Court ruled on Friday. The judges within the High Court of Cassation and Justice overruled the anti-corruption prosecutors’ appeal against a different court’s decision that replaced the house arrest decision for the ex-Liberal minister.
David is accused of receiving a EUR 500,000 bribe in order to intercede with Buzau prefect in favor of a person who was making a claim on a 15-hectare land in Buzau.
The former Interior minister was placed under remand during January 22 and March 20.
