Former Minister Cristian David will be judged under house arrest

Former Minister Cristian David will be investigated under house arrest, the Supreme Court (the High Court for Cassation and Justice – ICCJ) ruled during the night of Friday to Saturday.

The decision cannot be appealed.

The judges rejected the DNA prosecutors’ request for the extension, for the second time, of the arrest warrant issued in January for Cristian David.

Cristian David is accused of bribe taking and money laundering.

The deeds for which DNA was notified in 2014 are related to the fact that former minister Cristian David allegedly had claimed in 2007, and on February 1, 2008 received, EUR 500,000 from a whistle-blower, in order to exercise his powers of guidance and coordination on the prefects in a way that would ensure the issuance of the land title for 15 hectares located in the municipality of Buzau, from the County Commission meant to establish ownership.
