The Prahova Court admitted, on Friday afternoon, the appeal filed by Horaţiu Potra against the judicial control measure imposed on him by the decision of the Ploieşti Court. The court rejected the appeal of the Prosecutor’s Office attached to the Ploieşti Court of Appeal, which had requested his preventive arrest.

(1) Criminal Procedure Code, rejects as unfounded the proposal of the Prosecutor’s Office attached to the Ploieşti Court to take the measure of preventive arrest for a period of 30 days against the defendants Potra Horaţiu and Lup Andrei-Florin”, the court minutes write.

On Friday, the Prahova Court held hearings in the case in which prosecutors from the Prosecutor’s Office attached to the Ploieşti Court of Appeal challenged the Ploieşti Court’s decision to reject the proposal for preventive arrest on behalf of former mercenary Horaţiu Potra, suspected of public incitement, failure to comply with the weapons and ammunition regime and prohibited pyrotechnic operations.

Horaţiu Potra declared, on Friday, upon leaving the Prahova Tribunal headquarters, that he did not discuss with the former independent presidential candidate, Călin Georgescu, but with his “security guards”.

“I did not discuss with Mr. Călin Georgescu, I discussed with Mr. Călin Georgescu’s security guards”, said Potra, answering questions from journalists.
Asked if they provide security for Călin Georgescu, Potra answered in the negative. “I do not! They are not my people, but they are some good guys who worked in Congo before, are not working at the moment and whom I know”, he said.
Regarding the discussions he allegedly had with Călin Georgescu in Ciolpani, Potra said that his family “was threatened and wanted to increase the degree of protection”. We also asked that this discussion remain secret”, added Potra.
Asked about the weapons found by the police in his car, Potra replied: “What weapon, ma’am? It’s an air gun, you shoot birds with it. What weapon are you talking about? One of Potra’s lawyers said of his client that “he’s a very discreet guy, he doesn’t like attention, he doesn’t like public discussion.”
