How Horațiu Potra was stopped from protesting at the National Salvation Cathedral

Horațiu Potra, along with 19 other men, allegedly planned a protest at the National Salvation Cathedral in Bucharest on Sunday to protest the Constitutional Court’s decision to annul the presidential elections. Their plan was foiled after a relative of one of Potra’s acolytes called 112 and alerted the authorities, announcing that an armed group was heading to the Capital city.

However, the judges decided to place Potra under judicial control, reasoning that the acts committed did not pose a major danger.

According to the data obtained, the group was allegedly organized on the WhatsApp platform, each of them leaving from different corners of the country, to arrive together in the capital.

Following searches carried out by the authorities, pistols, knives and military equipment were discovered in their cars. In addition, the police received a call to 112 from a relative of a suspect, who announced that former members of the Foreign Legion were heading armed towards Bucharest.

However, the judges considered that the acts committed did not pose a major danger, therefore the court decided that Potra be placed under judicial control.
