Justice awaiting in Microsoft file

New raids targeting important businessmen, ex-SIE director, ex-minister and former tennis player.

The National Anticorruption Direction’s (DNA) prosecutors on Thursday conducted searches at various businessmen such as Dorin Cocos (photo), Remus Truic?, Nicolae Dumitru and Catalin Harnagea, former SIE director, concerning the Microsoft file. Also, DNA has searched the former Communications Minister Gabriel Sandu, former presidential adviser Dorin Marian, former tennis player Dinu Pescariu’s home as well as one of his foundations, and Claudiu Florea’s headquarters, former chief of Fujitsu Romania and important witness in Microsoft file.

According to preliminary information, there was also targeted the president of the Romanian Olympic Committee, Alin Petrache, albeit he claims that  no raid has been conducted at his home and that a bewilderment has been made. “I’m not being prosecuted in any file.  A regrettable confusion has been made. The search warrant is not on my name,” Alin Petrache aimed to clarify. The prosecutors seized various documents, but also computers from the aforementioned persons’ homes.

Only a week ago, Remus Truic? has been visited by bailiffs. Adrian Nastase’s former chief of staff has been foreclosed for a loan totaling Euro 3 million.

Ex-SIE director during 1997 and 2001, Catalin Harnagea said prosecutors eyed a contract that his company had with EADS. Harnagea told B1TV this contract began at the end of 2005 or early 2006 and was an advisory services contract related to Romanian border security project. Ex-SIE head explained a fee was commissioned by his company from EADS for these advisory services. Ex-presidential aide Dorin Marian was Harnagea’s partner in this company.
