The owner of the former LPG station that exploded in Crevedia, Ionuț Doldurea, was brought to hearings at the General Prosecutor’s Office in Bucharest. Prosecutors have also called key witnesses who will help them draw conclusions about how the tragedy near Bucharest took place.

Doldurea was brought to the Prosecutor’s Office with a warrant. His lawyer says that his client has not received any message notifying him that he is being summoned to the Prosecutor’s Office. His associate, Cosmin Stângă, was also brought to the Prosecutor’s Office.

Ionuț Doldurea, who is the son of the mayor of Caracal, did not want to give statements to journalists before entering the Prosecutor’s Office building. Doldurea and Stângă are the shareholders of the company Flagas SRL, which owns the LPG station in Crevedia, which exploded last week.

The station had been closed by the Inspectorate for Emergency Situations in 2020, but was still operating as a warehouse.

5 people died and around 50 were injured in last Saturday’s blasts. As a result, 10 houses were destroyed and dozens more were damaged.

The two associates of the Flagas firm offered to pay all the damages and even to rebuild all the houses that were totally or partially destroyed.

A woman who lived near the LPG station and whose house was completely destroyed by the explosion said she called Doldurea to tell him that there was a strong smell of gas in the area.
