Romanian Arrested for Arson at UK PM Keir Starmer’s Home, Car

A 26-year-old man from Romford has been charged in connection with a series of fires linked to Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer, becoming the second person to be named as a suspect in the case, according to British media.

British police said a Romanian national was charged with arson offences on Tuesday, becoming the second man charged in an investigation into a series of fires at properties linked to Prime Minister Keir Starmer, Reuters reports.

Romanian citizen Stanislav Carpiuc, from Romford, was arrested on Saturday at London’s Luton Airport and will appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday morning, Sky News reports. Carpiuc is accused of conspiring with Roman Lavrinovich, a 21-year-old Ukrainian national, and other unknown persons, to commit arson with intent to endanger life. Investigators are talking about three fires on May 8, 11 and 12 at addresses in London.

Police were called to a fire at a property belonging to Starmer in north London in early May. No one was injured, but the entrance to the house was damaged. Two other fires, which occurred on separate days and involved a nearby flat and a car, both linked to the prime minister, are also part of the investigation.
Emergency services responded to a fire in the early hours of 12 May at the Kentish Town home where Sir Keir lived before he became prime minister and moved into 10 Downing Street. Damage was caused to the entrance of the property, which it is understood Sir Keir still owns and rents out, but nobody was hurt.
