Rompetrol challenges the DIICOT seizure in court

Rompetrol has challenged in court the RON 760 million seizure operated by DIICOT. The first term was set for Tuesday, later postponed for May 25, evz.ro informs.

The prosecutors are investigating Petromidia’s privatisation and the agreement by which the debts were converted into shares. KazMunaiGaz claims it was not aware of the criminal issues in 2007, when they acquired Rompetrol from businessman Dinu Patriciu.

However, commentators say they were aware of the debts and when in 2010 the bonds were due they refused to pay. They paid just as much as the state is not able to become major shareholder in Petromidia, the paper reads.
