The mayor of Sinaia, detained for corruption

The mayor of Sinaia, Vlad Oprea, was detained by DNA prosecutors, according to G4Media sources.
According to judicial sources, in 2021, the mayor of Sinaia, Vlad Oprea, is accused by DNA prosecutors of having received a bribe of almost 240,000 euros from the owner of the Nordis company to issue him a PUZ (zonal urban plan, ed.) for the Nordis Sinaia residential complex.
The mayor is accused, among other things, of having allowed the unauthorized activity of providing public catering services for the “QUBE” restaurant in Sinaia.
Last night the Mayor cited health problems and called an ambulance, but today he went to the DNA HQs.
The mayor was allegedly reported to the DNA by Vladimir Ciorbă, the owner of the Nordis company and the husband of former PSD deputy Laura Vicol. Ciorbă allegedly filed the complaint last fall after the Recorder investigation into the Nordis affair.
Another accusation brought against the mayor of Sinaia is that he managed his mother’s company, although he is not allowed to. For example, the mayor allegedly personally negotiated the sale of two plots of land for 400,000 euros to the company of businessman Octavian Radu from Diverta.
The mayor is accused of financial operations as commercial acts incompatible with the position. The mayor of Sinaia is also accused of abuse of office and money laundering.
