Brothers Andrew and Tristan Tate were detained for 24 hours on Wednesday evening by DIICOT prosecutors in a new case involving charges of forming an organized criminal group, trafficking in minors, human trafficking, sexual intercourse with a minor, influencing statements and money laundering, reports Digi24.
Attorneys for the Tate brothers said in a brief statement that they had been ordered held for 24 hours, and it remains to be seen whether prosecutors will seek a 30-day pretrial detention or house arrest.
“The Tate brothers were detained for 24 hours. It is the maximum period for which DIICOT can detain a suspect without the approval of a judge. For any preventive measure, such as arrest, judicial review or house arrest, prosecutors must submit a proposal to a judge, who can either accept or reject it. Up to this moment, no proposal has been submitted by the prosecutors”, the representatives of the two said.

The Tate brothers were taken to hearings at DIICOT on Tuesday afternoon. Their lawyer stated that the accusations brought against them cannot be made public.
“Today, 21.08.2024, the prosecutors of the Directorate for the Investigation of Organized Crime and Terrorism – Central Structure, together with police officers from the Ilfov Organized Crime Service, implemented 4 home search warrants within the Ilfov county and Bucharest municipality, in a criminal case concerning the commission of the crimes of forming an organized criminal group, trafficking in minors, trafficking in persons, sexual intercourse with a minor, influencing statements and money laundering”, according to DIICOT.
