Two leading SocDem MPs heard at DNA

Nicolae Bădălău, executive chairman of the Social Democrat Party (PSD) and Adrian Țuțuianu, chairman of the parliamentary SRI committee, were subpoenaed at the National Anti-corruption Directorate (DNA) on Monday. It is not known yet what they have been summoned for or in what file.

Nicolae Bădălău told the journalists he has given statements as witness in a corruption file, but refused to say what is the file about. “I was summoned to give information in a certain case, as witness. I am not the main actor, it’s an in rem investigation”, he stated. His son was also heard as witness in this case.

Nicolae Bădălău is senator and is holding the second most important position in the party, executive chairman.

Before being a lawmaker, he was chairman of the Giurgiu County Council. Bădălău was investigated in corruption cases before, in 2014 and 2015. He was charged in a tax evasion file two years ago, but he has not been indicted next to the other defendants.
