Update:Islamist shot dead in Paris last week has stayed in Romania. He had been declared undesirable

German Police informed the man lethally shot when trying to attack a Police station in Paris on Thursday used to dwell in an asylum-seeker center in Germany, according to BBC News Online. Moreover, the man allegedly crossed Romanian, Switzerland, Luxembourg and Germany before getting to France on December 24, as Le Journal du Dimanche reported.

French Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve stated on Sunday morning the attacker ‘was undoubtedly of Tunisian origin, his name was Tarek Belgacem and used to live in several EU countries.”

According to investigators, Tarek Belgacem, crossed Switzerland, Luxembourg and Romania under several identities. Thus, he reportedly said he was Moroccan, Tunisian, Syrian or Georgian.

Moreover, he would have also remarked himself for minor thefts in these countries, breaking the foreigners’ legislation.

According to sources quoted by Digi24, Tarek Belgacem used to stay in Romania for six months in 2011. He came in our country in early 2011 and filed for an asylum request. The Romanian authorities were suspicious about his profile and ordered to be surveilled while he was staying in the center for the refugees. In the summer of 2011, the authorities decided to ban Tarek Belgacem to enter Romania and thus, they escorted him back to Tunisia.
