Former presidential candidate in 2014, lawyer William Brinza, was taken in for hearings on Thursday by DIICOT prosecutors on suspicion of tax evasion, ziare.com informs. He was placed under judicial control after being heard by the prosecutors for tax evasion and support for a criminal group, sources say.
The file was opened three months ago, the lawyer’s mother being also heard two months ago, B1 TV reports.
On Thursday morning have taken place hearings at Brinza’s residence and at others homes.
The damage in this case amounts to EUR 25 million.
In recent months, William Brinza has been the lawyer of some politicians, such as former mayor of Ploiesti, Iulian Badescu, who has been in preventive arrest for bribery and abuse of office.
Aged 43, the attorney that ran for presidency in 2014 on behalf of the Romanian Ecologist Party, won 0.45 percent of the votes, ranking the 12th out of the 14 candidates.
William Brinza was a deputy during 2004-2012, representing PRM and PDL.
