Local intelligence service chief detained for corruption

Chief of the Suceava Department of Intelligence and Internal Protection with the Ministry of Internal Affairs (SIPI), Cristian Macsim was detained on Monday night on the charge of corruption, more precisely on abuse of office and abetment in crime. A policeman from Fratautii Noi village was also detained in this file on a charge of abusive investigation, forgery and use of forgery.

Anti-corruption prosecutors in Suceava have conducted several searches on Monday morning at Macsim and other five policemen places.

Investigators claim that Suceava SIPI head would have officially denied an informative report on a local prosecutor’s involvement in the whitewash of a car accident committed by a local policeman. Prosecutor Dambu Dumitru would have allegedly received bribery to clean up the local policeman of all charges. As for Macsim, he is charged of also having denied other informative reports on cases investigated by his subordinates.
