Military parade on National Day to reveal several firsts

The military parade marking Romania’s National Day on December 1st is going to be one of a kind, as it will sum up several firsts.

O first novelty compared to the previous years is that the military parade will return to the Arch of Triumph, after being hosted by the Constitutiei Square in 2014 and 2015 due to the rehabilitation works on the arch.

Recently purchased F16s from the Portuguese Air Forces, seven multirole aircrafts part of “Warhawks” squadron 53, will fly over Bucharest for the first time.

Also as a first, three brigades will wear the new turnouts that the Romanian Army will have as of January 2017. The new combat turnouts have new colors, fabric and also a brand new cut.

Over 3,000 Romanian and foreign soldiers will march under the Arch of Triumph this year, 1,000 more than last year. They will be accompanied by 300 military techniques vehicles. The 2016 parade will lack vehicles of the Local Police or the Guard and Protections Service.

Another first is that students from the Military Medical Institute in Bucharest will join the troops of the three main armies in their march (land forces, navy and air forces).

The parade on December 1st will start at 11:00.
