More Romanians detained in Austria and Hungary for human trafficking. 27 Romanians on remand on Hungary in five days

More Romanian citizens have been taken on remand in Hungary and Austria for human trafficking, more precisely for transporting refugees.

According to information posted on the Hungarian Police website on Sunday, other three Romanian citizens have been detained in Hungary for human trafficking. One in Csongrad county, the other one in Gyo-Moson-Sopron county. The last one was taken into custody near Kistelek on Sunday morning.

A 29-year-old Romanian driver was taken into Police’s custody in Gyor-Moson-Sopron on Saturday, after six Syrian citizens without legal papers have been tracked down in his car.

The other Romanian was detained in Csongrad on Saturday night while driving a Ford van on M5 motorway. 41 immigrants were crammed into the van.

A total of 27 Romanian citizens have been detained and investigated for human trafficking in Hungary since August 26, as the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE) informed on Sunday.

At the same time, Austrian authorities also confirmed the detention of two Romanian truck drivers in Braunau and Salzburg on Saturday night.

According to MAE, none of the two Romanian citizens have asked for consular assistance so far.

Austrian news agency APA informed that a 29yo Romanian driving a truck with 26 refugees was detained in Austria. Three children in the truck were in serious condition, due to dehydration.

The refugees came from Syria, Afghanistan and Bangladesh was stopped in Peter am Hart little town, located near the border with Germany. The Romania driver was taken into custody, and the refugees and their children were rushed to the hospital in a town near Braunau.
