More than 3,000 pyrotechnics found during searches of individuals suspected of violence in Piata Victoriei

Over 3,000 pyrotechnics were found and taken over by police in Bucharest Thursday morning, following 13 house searches conducted in a file regarding the violence on the night of February 1 to February 2 in Piata Victoriei.

“Following the investigations until now and based on the cooperation with the General Inspectorate of the Romanian Gendarmerie, several people have been identified, about which there is information and clues that they participated in the violent actions mentioned above. The individuals were taken for hearings at the headquarters of the General Directorate of Bucharest Police – Criminal Investigation Service, a DGPMB release informs.

The operation has the support of the Directorate for Special Operations with the General Inspectorate of Romanian Police.

Eight people have been charged after the violence at the protest on the night of February 1 to February 2 in Victory Square.

Four defendants received arrest warrants for 30 days, the other four being placed under judicial control.

The research is conducted by the Prosecutor’s Office upon District 1 Court in a file related to offenses of assault and disturbing public order.

More than 60 people were taken to hearings after the violent incidents.
