The technology is evolving, and still evolving… Bionic hand is no longer a novelty, but a utility which became more frequently used in the last century in areas like neurology, engineering, surgery, robotics. Scientists have already created a bionic hand which allows the amputee to feel lifelike sensations from their fingers.
Recently, two teachers in Galati (south-eastern Romania) found a revolutionary method through which volleyball players, for example, can reach the performance in half the time needed before. It’s about a bionic hand that corrects errors in real time via a special software, realitatea.net informs.
“The bionic hand made by teachers is fixed on player arms, giving total freedom of movement. Through 10 sensors, the device identifies the position of the arms, and then it transmits the information to computer. A program generates instantly voice messages to correct eventual mistakes. If the joints are bent, the voice message is intended to correct the performer – ‘Straighten your elbows!’ – through voice message the player can self-correct,” Carmen Parvu, Lecturer at Faculty of Physical Education and Sports from Galati said.
For each player that offers precise indications, the device could replace the coach, according to Razvan Rosculet, professor at Faculty of Engineering Galati. Thus, the learning time is reduced by half. Furthermore, the invention can also be used in other areas. Developing the device took a year, and teachers say they already received offers from investors.
