President-elect Nicușor Dan was caught on camera taking his daughter to school on Monday morning. During the election debates, he said it was a habit he would not want to give up if he won the presidency. On his first day as president of Romania, Nicușor Dan was photographed walking down the street, holding hands with his daughter. The image quickly went viral on social media.
Last week on ProTV News, Nicușor Dan stated that he wants his daughter and son “not to see the difference that, after all, their father has a public position and to know that their life depends on what they do, on the effort they make”. He said that although he was the general mayor of the capital, he takes his daughter to school every morning.
Asked then how he would do this if he were president, he added: “We’ll negotiate this. I’ll negotiate with the SPP. I mean, I want my children not to see the difference”.
His partner, Mirabela Grădinaru, claimed, in an interview with Totul despre Mame, that she needs “our children to grow up in a normal family. Normality means that, yes, we have our goals, there are certain things that we do, but we do not give up the responsibility that we have, that we have assumed.”
Nicusor Dan will be the first President of Romania after 1989 who has small children.
