One dead, three injured in blast at a prefab factory in Bucharest

A blast has taken place on Friday morning at a prefab factory in Bucharest, leaving one woman dead and other three people injured.

The chief of the Department for Emergency Situations, Raed Arafat has announced that one of the injured has serious burns on 90% of his body and has been admitted to Floreasca Hospital.

The prefab factory is located on Preciziei Boulevard, district 6.

The explosion has not been followed by any fire. Several SMURD and fire trucks have been deployed on the scene. The residents in the area recounted that they had heard a bang and felt like there was an earthquake.

According to preliminary information, a steam engine machine under pressure would have exploded.

The Environmental Guard is conducting checks and measurements to see if there have been any toxic gas emissions.

As for the injured, Raed Arafat said the person who has burns on 90% of his body has been put into induced coma. Arafat explained that the injured people must be first stabilised, as they might also have internal injuries.
