A woman from Poland has been injured after falling in a ravine, 100 meters down, on the Serbota peak in Fagaras Massif. Mountain rescuers’ efforts to recover the foreign tourist are under way. A SMURD helicopter has been required on the scene.
According to the head of the Sibiu Mountain Rescue Service, Adrian David, the rescue operation is difficult for the weather conditions on the mountain were unfavourable.
”A Polish female tourist has fallen down about 100 metres down in an edge-area in Fagaras Mountains, near the Negoiu chalet. The rescue operation of the mountain rescuers from the chalet is ongoing. Weather conditions are adverse,” he said.
The spokesperson of the Sibiu Inspectorate for Emergency Operations, Ramona Nistor also reported that the tourist had a leg injury.
„The 34-year-old woman is conscious and has injuries a one leg and one arm. A SMURD ambulance is ready to intervene to give first aid after the victim is recovered,” she said.
