Queen Anne’s body reaches Romanian soil

The aircraft with Queen Anne’s body landed on the Otopeni Airport on Tuesday at 14:59. A military ceremony and a religious service were organized at the airport, with state officials, members of the Royal House, hierarchs of the Catholic and Orthodox Churches attending. The queen’s corpse has been brought with a Tarom flight that also transported passengers.

The convoy consisting of several cars went to Sinaia, at Peles Castle, where the coffin will stay one day.

According to the catholic traditions, the coffin will remain covered for the entire course of the funerals.

The religious service was officiated by the Monseigneur Ioan Robu, Roman-Catholic Archbishop, in the presence of the Orthodox Church representatives. The archbishop said a prayer in Latin and the Lord’s Prayer in Romanian, while the synod sang “Christ is risen.”

The ceremony was attended by Crown Princess Margareta and Prince Radu, Princess Elena, Alexander Nixon, Princess Sofia, Princess Maria, Ms. Elisabeta Maria Biarneix, daughter of Princess Sofia, Andree Popper, the honorary chief of the HM King Mihai I House, presidential adviser Andrei Muraru and the staff of the Royal House.

At the same time, traffic restrictions have been announce din Bucharest in Saturday, for the Queen’s funerals. Traffic will be stopped until 14:00 on several streets downtown Bucharest.

So, road traffic will be restricted on Saturday from midnight to 8 a.m. on Calea Victoriei between C.A. Rosetti street and Kretzulescu Alley, on Dem. I. Dobrescu street, as well as on the nearby streets, according to a press release by the Bucharest Traffic Police.

From 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. the traffic will be stopped on Calea Victoriei, between Victoriei Square and Ion Campineanu st., but also on other streets depending on the number of people attending the funerals.

Staring 11:00 the road traffic is restricted on: Dem. I. Dobrescu st –Gh. Magheru Blvd – Lascăr Catargiu Blvd –Victoriei Square –Aviatorilor Blvd –Charles de Gaulle Square –Mareşal C-tin Prezan Blvd – Arch of Triumph –Alexandru Constantinescu Blvd –Ion Mihalache Blvd – Calea Griviţei – Şos. Chitila – D.N. 7

The foot passenger traffic will be also restricted on August 13 staring midnight on Stirbei Voda St and Calea Victoriei past the Kretzulescu Church.
