Red Code for heat wave in Arad and Bihor counties, Orange and Yellow Code for the rest of the country

Arad and Bihor counties are under Red Code for heat wave and the Orange Code was extended to 18 counties in Banat, Crisana, Maramures, Transylvania and Moldova, where temperatures will reach on Wednesday afternoon, 39 degrees C and discomfort heat will be particularly high.
For Bucharest and other 21 counties, it was issued a Yellow Code warning.
In Arad and Bihor maximum temperatures are expected to reach 38-39 degrees C or more, approaching the absolute temperature record of the region, informs the National Meteorological Administration (ANM).
According to meteorologists, the heat wave will persist on Thursday in southern and south-eastern regions and atmospheric instability will increase gradually from the west of the country.
ANM issued on Monday an Orange Code for heat warning, which applied to 17 counties in Transylvania and Moldova on July 7 to 8, respectively Yellow Code warning in most of the country in the same period.

Two Romanians, victims of extreme heat in Italy

Two persons of Romanian nationality have died because of the heat wave which is also affecting Italy, the Italian authorities informed, as quoted by ANSA.

The first Romanian victim died on Monday on a field in Belfiore, nearby Verona.

The second victim was a 48-year-old Romanian immigrant. He died also nearby Verona on Wednesday while he was fishing in Albaredo d’Adige area. He most probably felt sick because of the extreme heat and the doctors from the ambulance determined he had suffered a cardiac arrest and they couldn’t resuscitated him.

500 calls at the ambulance in Bucharest

In Bucharest, there were 500 calls for the ambulance in the first seven hours of Wednesday, with an average of 80 calls every hour. Most of them were faints in public areas, as the manager of the Bucharest Ambulance Alis Grasu reported.

“We have 49 emergency vehicles operational, 19 nurses and 16 transport vehicles. Today we supplemented the medical teams by eight. Almost 500 calls have been registered in the first seven hours of the day, with 238 emergencies,” she said.
