Romania advances in Technovation Girls: 9 teams, 39 students

Over 1,500 girls from all corners of the country have signed up to learn and create solutions for a better world. From big schools and small schools. From villages and cities.

Technovation Girls 2025 marks the largest participation Romania has seen so far — a record. And not just any record.

Now in its 8th edition, Technovation Girls is witnessing a shift. It’s the moment when you can no longer say, “there are no girls interested in technology.”
The truth is — there are many. And they’re good at what they do.

The best teams from Romania presented their apps to the jury and the public at the Technovation Girls Regional Pitch event held in Bucharest.
13 teams. 13 pitches. Real ideas, real problems, real solutions — ready to launch tomorrow.

Why does the Technovation Girls experience matter?

Because girls need a context that challenges them. Validates them. Makes them believe that “technology isn’t just for boys.”

Research is clear: girls who are exposed early to tech and leadership are more likely to pursue STEM careers, stay in those fields, and reach decision-making roles.

A program like Technovation Girls provides an environment where girls’ voices are not only heard — they’re put into action.

How Girls Are Changing the World for the Better Through Technology

“This year, the girls didn’t just build apps — they built confidence, communities, and the future. The complexity of their proposed solutions and the maturity with which they understood real-world problems show us how crucial it is to invest in girls’ education. Technology gets better when it’s created with empathy,” said Maria Popescu, Program Manager, Technovation Girls Romania.

A total of 39 students from Romania have qualified for the semifinals of the international Technovation Girls IT entrepreneurship competition.

Beginner Division (ages 8–12)

Team TogetherWeStand
Students from Armand Călinescu Middle School and Vlaicu Vodă National College (Curtea de Argeș), Dr. Ioan Meșotă National College (Brașov), and General School No. 8 (Brașov) created Stronger Together — a digital solution that helps students support each other in bullying situations. With a simple button, users can send an SOS and their location to classmates. The app promotes solidarity and transforms peer support into a concrete tool for protection and encouragement in schools.

Why Technovation Girls Matters

Technovation Girls is a launchpad. It opens real doors for Romanian girls — into tech careers, entrepreneurial thinking, and most importantly, self-confidence.

It’s not just about writing code. It’s about expressing ideas, pushing limits, and learning to solve real problems — pollution, lack of education, gender inequality, or health.

As the only program of its kind in Romania for girls aged 8 to 18, it offers free access to quality resources, mentorship from industry experts, and hands-on learning opportunities.

The event brings together tech experts, entrepreneurs, and developers who do more than inspire — they engage directly: offering feedback, mentoring, and challenging ideas. That’s what makes the difference.

Thanks to the support of main partners like Adobe Romania and Women in Tech, Technovation Girls 2025 is making all this possible.

Special Guests & Motivation

  • Roxana-Teodora Moldovan (Adobe Romania) spoke about how supporting education and equal opportunities contributes to a better future and encouraged the girls to trust their potential and explore tech with confidence.

  • Anca Mihăescu (Women in Tech Romania) highlighted how girls’ involvement in impactful projects, supported by a dedicated community, can open new paths in both careers and personal growth.

After the national stage, the Romanian Beginner, Junior, and Senior teams will enter the global judging phase. Finalist and regional winning teams will be announced in July, and the Technovation Girls World Summit will take place in October.

Support the community of girls who are changing the world through technology — and follow their journey.
