Russian hackers have attacked some institutions from Romania, Microsoft has announced, as quoted by Digi24. Microsoft has also sent a warning regarding the upcoming elections for European Parliament, saying there will be attempts from the Russian hackers to influence European voters and to intimidate them.
The cyber attacks are usually targeting not only the companies, but also NGOs, civic organisations and state institutions that are related to democracy, electoral integrity.
Such recent attacks have targeted 104 accounts of employees in sensitive positions from Romania, Belgium, Germany, France, Poland and Serbia.
Cyber security experts explained the hackers are part of the Strontium group, which was initially born anonymously in 2007 and which launched cyber attack in US and Europe.
