A Romanian beggar who slept under a bridge in a Swedish city has recently won a 210,000 kronor ($27,000) lottery ticket after buying it on impulse, thelocal.se informs. “I don’t know what to believe. My wife doesn’t believe me and I can understand her. I can hardly believe it myself,” the man told Faktum magazine.
The lucky Romanian won in fact a car, but chose to cash in the money instead, even if it was a slightly less sum. He says he would like to use the money in order to build a house for himself and his family in Romania, as he is homeless here, too. The man also said that he would like to return to Sweden, but he will not do so as a beggar.
Meanwhile, another lucky fellow countryman won the national lottery. A person from Constanta won the RON 44 M lottery grand prize of last week (about EUR 9.8 M), playing a ticket of just RON 19.3 (about 4.4 EUR).
According to the Romanian Lottery officials, the ticket was raffled at a lottery agency in Tomis North district in Constanta. The lottery agency’s representatives say the winner could be a pensioner, as there a lot of older people living in the neighborhood who are usually raffling.
