Romanian inventor Ionut Budisteanu continues his ascent: Gold medal at Brussels’ World Exhibition of Invention

He was rewarded for a device which recognizes ATM robbers.

“My first gold medal at the World Exhibition of Invention, Research and Industrial Innovation from Brussells,” wrote young Romanian inventor Ionut Budisteanu on his Facebook page. It’s about a device meant to recognize criminals wearing balaclavas attempting to rob ATMs.

“The idea came after seeing several news pieces that presented such robberies, I know there was one case in Ramnicu Valcea (ed. note his birthplace) too, and the police lost a lot of time until it managed to identify the criminals,” Budisteanu said, for Agerpres.

He also received a medal and a special prize from Taiwan Prominent Inventor Association for this invention. According to Ionut Budisteanu, the invention consists in an electronic device connected to multiple cameras and a microphone that automatically recognizes the spectral fingerprint of the noise made by an angle grinder when a felon tries to cut with a grinder / polydisc an ATM, and also when a burglar wearing mask enters into an institution.

This device, which was also appreciated by all specialists in Brussels, brought him another four awards.

Romania participated with 25 inventions in the 63rd edition of the Brussels Eureka!
