Romanian woman decorated by King Felipe of Spain with the Order of Civil Merit

A Romanian woman living in Spain, Alice Mihaela Cozma, was decorated by King Felipe VI with the Order of Civil Merit. The 32-year-old received the award for her efforts for the benefit of the local community in the city where she lives.

Alice Mihaela Cozma is a volunteer at the Spanish Red Cross, where she also worked as an ambulance driver. She is currently studying to become a nurse and is employed at a pharmacy. The young woman lost her mother as a child, and at the age of 19 she left Romania for Spain.

Through the ceremony of awarding the Order of Civil Merit, the King of Spain rewards anonymous and hard-working citizens, who put the common good above their own interests and who, through their gestures, make the world a better place. When Alice Mihaela Cozma found out that she was chosen to be decorated, she couldn’t believe it, it was like a dream to her.

Besides the official medal ceremony and speeches, the Spanish royal family spends private moments with the winners in another room of the Royal Palace, which is not accessible to the cameras. At that time, all the laureates have the opportunity to spend a few minutes with the Spanih king and queen and their daughters.

And the Spanish press writes that King Felipe was conquered by the accent of the Romanian woman who lives in Extremadura.

I felt very proud, it was an honor to meet all the winners. And they treated us wonderfully, I felt welcome “, Alice Mihaela Cozma told Spanish media.
