A doctor from Gorj County, who went abroad in 2007, was named ‘doctor of the month’ by the largest hospital in London.
Roxana Hotoboc told a TV network, which were the reasons for leaving and the differences between the health system in Romania and in the UK, gandul.info reports.
“I realized what the situation is in Romanian society and that it is very hard to get promoted on your own feet, to be appreciated for who you are as a person and professionally, while not politically connected or having relationships of any kind. It is extremely difficult to build your career on your own. I wanted to give my children a chance to live in a society where they can become different people from all points of view, on their own, on their feet, on their merits,” the physician said.
Roxana Hotoboc says she worked as director with the Ambulance Service Gorj for two years, and was removed from office for political reasons, because she did not agree to shift from one party to another, to play political games.
Asked about the difference in salary in Romania against London, Roxana Hotoboc said that the latter is 7-8-9 times larger, as physicians in England earning about GBP 5,000 net salary, but she works on her own and earns according to the number of hours of work.
