Several groups of Romanians living in Diaspora have met in Brussels on Saturday, for rallies and debates regarding the election for European Parliament set for May 26.
About 500 Romanians, representatives of the civic associations in Diaspora, have discussed the ways to cooperate in view of elections, ziare.com reports.
“Connections and bridges have been built beyond borders. Representatives from all European countries have attended, except for the ones from Portugal. The effort was an important one, each participant has paid for his trip and participation. We were not sponsored by any party or legal persons. It was an occasion to protest against the adoption of the amendments to the Criminal Code and the Criminal Procedure Code, which weaken the rule of law and give impetus to criminality and corruption. The civic associations’ representatives have had the support of their associations to make a step in this regard. The associations will soon issue a press release,” Laura Ghibu, member of the Romanian community in Malmo, Sweden, wrote to ziare.com.
