Romanians can vote online (http://centenar.cultura.ro/logo) the logo of the Great Union centenary, starting Wednesday, August 23 until August 27. The new visual identity will be used on the flyers dedicated to the 1918 Great Union centenary.
The Ministry of Culture and National Identity, together with the Union of the Advertising Agencies in Romania and with the support of the International Advertising Association, of the Excellence Centre in the Image Study and UNARTE, has organized a contest to create the centenary logo. Three Romanian agencies are racing, Pastel, FCB BUCHAREST and BrandNew, which proposed 13 visual identities.
“The 1918 Great Union centenary is a celebration of all Romanians, so that every one should be able to choose the visual identity that will represent this important event in our national history,” says the Culture Ministry.
The vote of the audience counts for 25%. One person can vote only one logo.
Those 13 logos are based on several national symbols and on the tricolor, suggesting values such as national unity, patriotism, continuity, affiliation. On the visual format, the logos include graphic signs inspired from the national flag, from Constantin Brancusi’s sculptures or the festive cockade kept from the ceremony held in Alba Iulia in 1918.
