Romanians trust bio food, but they also consider it more expensive, while they feel safer eating cooked meals, as they know the ingredients, Global Health & Wellness Nielsen study shows. Romanians also pledge to buy more fruits and vegetables, water, seeds, yoghurt and fish in the next 6 months.
“About 90 percent of the interviewed Romanians state that they agree much and very much the following statements: I’d rather cook at home, so that I can know what ingredients I use; A healthy hydration is included in my life style; Organic and bio food are more expensive; I am what I eat,” the Nielsen study reveals.
Yet, half of the Romanians are willing to pay more for 100 percent natural products, significantly more than the European average.
Romanians value a product as natural when it lacks artificial colors, genetic modified organisms and high sugar content and when it has a high fiber percent. As a matter of fact, Romanians stated they would buy more fruits and vegetables, water, seeds, yoghurt and fish in the next 6 months, in a higher percentage than other Europeans.
At the same time, half of the Romanians who admitted they are overweight said they were trying to go in for dieting.
