When it comes to food, personal care and cleaning products, Romanian consumers put quality and safety first.
Also, about 80 percent of them look for local products when shopping, either by choosing them instead of foreign ones, whenever they have the opportunity (51 percent) or by choosing certain stores, precisely because their offer includes Romanian products (29 percent).
Two out of three Romanians choose consumer products that offer the best value for money, and for 51 percent of them the quality is more important than the price. Moreover, before deciding to buy an item, half of the consumers want to be sure that the products contain safe and quality ingredients.
The study also reveals that about 96 percent of Romanian consumers put monthly in their shopping cart food, cleaning and personal care products made locally.
At the same time, 43 percent appreciate them for their quality, and 39 percent consider them more natural than those imported.
Only 4 percent of Romanians say they would choose imported products instead of local ones, but just because they do not find Romanian products at hand.
The MKOR study was conducted in September-October 2018 on 1,067 Romanian consumers.
