A metal monolith illegally installed on the Bâtca Doamnei hill in Neamt county, Romania, in an area where the ancient Dacian fortress of Petrodava was once located, vanished on Tuesday, December 1, four days after it had been set up. The appearance of the strange object, as well as its disappearance has been extensively covered in the foreign mass media. Its story is similar to the one of the metal monolith in the American state of Utah.
“A similar alien-looking pillar, was spotted in a Utah desert in the United States about two weeks ago. It disappeared after generating much excitement internationally among science-fiction fans, hearkening to Stanley Kubrick’s 1968 film, “2001: A Space Odyssey”, based on a novel by Arthur C. Clarke. In the Kubrick movie, an alien monolith is a recurring symbol that appears to play a role in the development of human evolution,“ Reuters reports.
“The 2.8 metre (9ft) tall structure disappeared overnight as quietly as it was erected last week. “An unidentified person, apparently a bad local welder, made it … now all that remains is just a small hole covered by rocky soil,” journalist Robert Iosub of the Ziar Piatra Neamt local newspaper, who had seen the structure, told Reuters.
Howevr, Andrei Carabelea, mayor of Piatra Neamt, tends to see the story as a prank.
“There is no reason to panic for those who think there is still life in the universe. My guess is that some alien, cheeky and terrible teenagers left home with their parents’ UFO and started planting metal monoliths around the world. First in Utah and then at Piatra Neamt,” the mayor said.
