Searches conducted at CFR Calatori, Transport Ministry for equipments on trains, others than auctioned

The Transport Police Directorate has conducted five searches on Thursday at the headquarters of some companies in Bucharest, in a file involving offenses of abuse of office, embezzlement and intellectual forgery, and checks conducted at CFR Călători (CFR Passengers), which is headquartered in the Transportation Ministry.

Judicial sources say that searches were taking place at the Bucharest Griviţa Wagon Revision, SC Ateliere CFR Griviţa SA and CFR Călători, the latter having its headquarters in the Transportation Ministry.

The file aims to the way an audio-video system for endowing wagons to inform passengers was acquired. According to the sources, several wagons should have been equipped with an audio-video system for informing passengers, instead other systems were installed with poorer performances than set at the auction, on fewer wagons, the difference in money being acquired by the persons targeted by the searches.

Besides the searches at the Ministry of Transport, the police officers have checked CFR Grivita workshop for wagon revision, antena3.ro informs.

The damages in the file amount to RON 156,000.

CFR Calatori has confirmed Thursday morning the searches at its offices and at CFR Grivita. “Given that the operation is ongoing, more information on this topic can be provided by the institutions conducting these specific activities,” CFR representatives say.
