Sebastian Ghita to be heard for extradition by the Supreme Court in Belgrade on May 19

Sebastian Ghita will be heard by the judges of the Supreme Court in Belgrade on May 19 for extradition, but the hearing is not public, according to an announcement made by the court.

Former MP Sebastian Ghita will be heard by the Serbian Supreme Court magistrates on May 19 at 12.30h, the Court has announced.

Sebastian Ghiţă is in the custody of Serbian authorities after he was identified by authorities in Belgrade on April 13, having false ID papers.

On Ghita’s name, arrest warrants have been issued in two National Anticorruption Directorate (DNA) files.

The Prahova Court postponed on Friday the ruling in the case of the preventive arrest request filed by the DNA Ploiesti prosecutors for Sebastian Ghita in the file of the former Prime Minister Victor Ponta’s brother in law, in which the businessman is accused of supporting an organized criminal group.

The magistrates of the High Court of Cassation and Justice (ICCJ – Supreme Court) have also postponed for June 6 the request for remand filed by the prosecutors in the file of the former Mayor of Ploiesti, Iulian Badescu.
