The section investigating magistrates withdraws DNA’s appeal in Hrebenciuc’s corruption file

The section for investigating magistrates has announced the High Court of Cassation and Justice that it is withdrawing the appeal file by the anti-corruption directorate in the file of the illegal forest retrocessions, where former PSD deputy Viorel Hrebenciuc had been sentenced to two years in prison.

The defendants’ lawyers mentioned that the trial will go on for the defendants who have got convictions, Viorel Hrebenciuc included, but will stop for the defendants who had been acquitted, such as former Justice minister Tudor Chiuariu, who had been acquitted and the to whom the section for investigating magistrates has withdrawn the appeal against the acquittal.

Former PSD Deputy, Viorel Hrebenciuc, was sentenced in May last year, by the High Court of Cassation and Justice (ICCJ – Supreme Court) to 2 years imprisonment, serving sentence, in the file of illegal forest retrocessions, being charged of setting up an organised criminal group, influence peddling and money laundering.
