16 More Romanians Safely Evacuated from Gaza, Return to Romania

Another 16 Romanian citizens and their family members, evacuated from the Gaza Strip, have arrived in Romania.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE) announced that another 16 Romanian citizens and their family members, evacuated from the Gaza Strip, arrived in Romania on Friday aboard a flight operated by the National Company TAROM.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE) specifies that on Friday, November 17, 2023, following the complex efforts of the Interinstitutional Crisis Cell, through the Embassy of Romania in Cairo and the Representation Office of Romania in Ramallah, 16 Romanian citizens and their family members, evacuated from the Gaza Strip, were transported to Romania on a flight operated by the National Company TAROM,” MAE stated.

On November 14, 17 Romanian citizens and their family members reached the territory of the Arab Republic of Egypt through the Rafah border crossing, later being taken over by representatives of the Embassy of Romania in the Arab Republic of Egypt. A mobile team from the MAE Crisis Cell then accompanied them to Cairo, where 16 individuals were boarded for Romania, while one person remained in the Arab Republic of Egypt. MAE continues the dialogue with Israeli and Egyptian authorities to facilitate the evacuation of other Romanian citizens and their family members in the Gaza Strip, depending on developments on the ground and the agreement of the parties involved.

So far, 237 Romanian citizens and their family members, evacuated from the Gaza Strip, have been transported to Romania.
