An earthquake measuring 4.9 on the Richter scale has taken place on Saturday night to Sunday in Vrancea region, the quake being felt in Bucharest, the National Institute for Earth Physics informs.
The quake, which had its epicentre in Buzau County, is the largest magnitude recorded this year.
The quake struck at a depth of 141 kilometres and had epicentre intensity IV. The towns closest to the epicentre are Covasna (34 kilometres), Targu Secuiesc (49 kilometres), Râmnicu Sarat (54 kilometres), Focsani (57 kilometres) and Campina (59 kilometres).
Another earthquake, with a magnitude of 3.7 degrees, occurred on the night of Friday to Saturday in Vrancea region.
