Bucharest ranks ninth in the top cities of the future in 2025, according to the “European Cities and Regions of the Future” 2025 report, conducted by fDi Intelligence, Financial Times. In 2024 and 2023, the Romanian capital was not in this ranking.
The top is led by London, Dublin and Warsaw. In Central and Eastern Europe, Warsaw and Bucharest are the only cities in the ranking.
The ranking analyzes: Costs and prices, Human capital and lifestyle, Connectivity, Economic potential, Openness of the business environment. Bucharest is the big city, which is ranked 4th in Europe in terms of human capital and lifestyle.
In the last 30 years, Romania has had foreign direct investments of 115 billion euros, half of which were made in Bucharest, and 10 billion in Ilfov County. The other counties had 40 billion euros, according to NBR data from 2023,
